Capsicum Raita or Shimla Mirch Raita is a refreshing yogurt-based side dish that is served as an accompaniment to Indian dishes. This Capsicum Raita is a good variant to regular raitas and also gives a nice crunch.

Ingredients
 
 

  • 1 cup curd or yogurt
  • ½ tsp Mustard seeds or rai
  • 2 dry chilies
  • 1 tsp Cumin powder or jeera
  • 1 small capsicum finely chopped
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • salt as per taste
  • 1 tsp oil for tempering

Instructions
 

  • Firstly, take yogurt in a bowl and whisk it well till there are no lumps.
  • Secondly, heat 1 tsp oil in a small pan and add mustard seeds and dry chilies.
  • Once the mustard seeds start to crackle, add finely chopped onions and capsicum in it.
  • Now cook till onions and capsicums are tender, add salt and cumin or jeera powder and mix well.
  • Switch off the flame and remove the pan from the heat and let it cool for 3-4 minutes.
  • Finally, add the capsicum in the yogurt and chill it.
