This Mumbai Masala Chana as the name suggests is spicy, tangy, and crunchy. It is the most popular street food that is sold on the streets of Mumbai. The brownie point of this Mumbai Masala Chana is that it is healthy, nutritious, and filling, unlike the other street foods that are deep-fried or are laden with oil, butter, and ghee.
Soak brown chana overnight or for at least 6-7 hours in hot water.
Next day remove the water and pressure pan the chanas for at least 5 whistles or till they are soft.
Drain all the water from the chanas and leave it aside to cool.
PREPARATIONS FOR THE CHAAT:-
Heat butter in a pan, add green chilies and saute for few seconds.
Add onions and saute for 1 minute, now add tomatoes and saute for a minute.
Add chana masala, chili powder, chaat masala, and salt and mix everything well and switch off the flame.
HOW TO SERVE:-
Add chanas in the above mixture and mix it well.
Add lemon juice and serve it hot with finely chopped coriander leaves. You can garnish with some finely chopped onions and tomatoes with a slice of lemon.
This Mumbai masala chana will taste best when it is hot.
