How to Roast Rava / Semolina
Heat ghee in a nonstick pan and add Rava/Semolina to it.
Roast the Rava on a medium flame stirring frequently for about 5 minutes till it turns brown.
Once the Rava leaves a nice aroma and turns the brown switch off the flame and remove it on a plate and keep it aside.
How to make Upma
Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds to it.
Once they crackle, add chana dal to it.
Wait for 30 seconds to allow chana dal to turn brown.
Now add cashew nuts, green chilies to it and cook till they turn brown.
Add, finely chopped onions to it and saute them for 2 minutes till onions turn translucent.
Now add water to the pan and let it boil for a minute.
Once the water comes to a boil, add curd to it.
At this point, add sugar, salt and mix everything well.
Once the whole mixture come to a boil, add Rava to it.
Mix everything well and cook till all the water evaporates and Rava is cooked properly.
Finally, put the ladle in the center to check if the Upma is cooked properly.
Remove the Upma to a plate, garnish with finel
