by Hetal Kamdar

Ingredients

  • 6 apples
  • 250 g caster sugar
  • 200 g plain flour
  • 120 g butter
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Step 1 of 8

Put the apple chunks into a pan, add three-quarters of the sugar, the cinnamon stick or clove, and cover.

Step 2 of 8

Allow to stew gently for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon.

Step 3 of 8

Keep checking as they can easily burn at the beginning.

Step 4 of 8

Check that the fruit is cooked by mashing it a bit with a wooden spoon. The apples should be soft but not pureed.

Step 5 of 8

Put the apples into the serving dish and allow it to cool. Set the temperature of the oven to 150 C.

Step 6 of 8

Mix the flour, remaining sugar, and the butter with your fingers in a bowl until it becomes like a breadcrumb consistency.

Step 7 of 8

Cover the stewed apples with the crumble topping, without pressing down.

Step 8 of 8

Bake for approximately 30 minutes or until the crumble is golden brown and crunchy.
