Chana Dal Sundal

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of Chana Dal
  • 1 tsp urad dal
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds | rai
  • few curry leaves
  • 2-3 dry red chilies
  • 1 tsp jaggery powder
  • 1 tsp tamarind extract
  • salt as per taste
  • 1 tbsp fresh grated coconut
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil coconut or sunflower oil

First;y, wash chana dal in water for 2-3 times and soak it in water for an hour.

Now take 3 cups of water in a pan and heat it and bring it to boil. Now add chana dal in boiling water and also add salt as per taste.

Cook the chana dal in boiling water on a medium flame for 8-9 minutes and stir in between.

You will see water boiling and become foamy and frothy. At this point reduce the flame and cook for another 4-5 minutes till chana dal is soft. Switch off the flame and drain all the water and keep...

Now heat oil in a Kadai and add urad dal and mustard seeds|rai in the oil.

Once it starts to crackle and turns brown add dry red chilies and curry leaves in it.

Now add cooked chana dal, jaggery, tamarind, salt, and mix everything well so that the spices are well combined with the dal.

Finally, garnish it with grated coconut and serve it hot.
