Broccoli and Red Bell Pepper Galette
Ingredients
- For the crust:
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup cold butter cut into small cubes
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- 1 cup cold water
- salt to taste
- For the filling:
- 1 cup steamed broccoli florets
- 1 red bell pepper thinly sliced
- 2 tsp minced garlic
- 1 onion thinly sliced
- a handful of fresh basil leaves
- 2 tbsp pizza sauce
- 1 tsp black pepper powder
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- For the crust:
- Firstly, pre-heat the oven at 180 c for 2o minutes. Now for the dough, take whole wheat flour in a bowl, add salt, baking powder, baking soda, and cold butter cubes.
- Rub the butter cubes with your fingertips till it becomes all crumbly in texture. Knead the dough by adding cold water a little at a time till it forms a hard dough. Keep it aside.
- For the Filling:
- Heat olive oil in a pan and add minced garlic and onion slices to it. Saute for a minute till it becomes translucent. Now add steamed broccoli florets and red bell pepper slices and saute all the ingredients on a high flame for 2 minutes till they are just tender. Do not overcook here as they will further get cooked in the oven.
- Add black pepper powder, salt, basil leaves, pizza sauce, mix everything well, and switch off the flame.
- How to proceed:
- Roll out dough to a 12-inch round and transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Gently spread the filling on the dough, leaving 1/2 inch of the border. Fold dough border over filling and brush with olive oil.
- Finally, bake this broccoli and red bell pepper galette for 30-35 minutes till it turns golden brown.
- Once baked remove it from the oven, cut it into 4 slices and serve it hot.
