A long loaf of French bread is sliced to make small, thick toasts called crostini – cover them with your favorite toppings and bake them till they are crispy and cheese melts.
Recipe of Italian Corn Cheese Crostini
Ingredients:
1 loaf French bread or Garlic bread loaf – cut into ½” thick slices ¾ tsp salt
½ tsp pepper
¼ tsp oregano,
2 tbsp oil
2 tbsp boiled corn,
1 cup pizza sauce,
GARLIC BUTTER:
3 tbsp softened butter
½ tsp minced garlic – crushed
a pinch of salt
¼ tsp freshly crushed pepper
TOPPING
½ cup grated cheese preferably parmesan or mozzarella (optional)
2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
1 cup freshly torn basil leaves.
Method:
1. Heat oil. Now add pizza sauce, saute it for few seconds and add corn, salt, pepper, and oregano. Cook for about 2 mins. Remove from the heat.
2. Prepare garlic butter by mixing softened butter with garlic, salt, and pepper.
3. Cut French loaf or garlic bread diagonally into ½” thick slices. On each slice spread some garlic butter.
4. Arrange the corn mixture on it. Cover with grated cheese. Spoon a little olive oil or melted butter on top of the cheese and add freshly torn basil leaves.
5. Bake in a preheated oven at 180ºC/350ºF for 10 minutes or till the base of the bread turns crisp and the cheese melts and, serve it hot.
