Dark Chocolate Mousse

This eggless Dark Chocolate Mousse recipe is quite simple and is done in a jiffy. Thoughtfully, you’d make it a day ahead or in the afternoon and refrigerate it, in case you are throwing a dinner party.

Chocolate is the first luxury. And this Dark Chocolate Mousse is a luscious treat for the soul. The first bite you dig in makes you feel like in chocolate heaven.

Firstly, I think there is nothing more enticing and a mood up-lifter then chocolate, However, if its a Chocolate mousse then this is really my idea of having a great dessert

Certainly, you can also get your kids involved in the preparations and let them boast about it in front of your guests…Aren’t these happy thoughts!!

The kids are just waiting for the dessert to get set and the moment it was ready, they started relishing it. Once the spoon had done its job, and there was still some left on the inner edges and the bottom, the kids dug in with their fingers. I was presented with the glass that looked brand new. Well, to sum it up what more of a compliment do I need other than this?

Certainly, The fun is just about to begin.  Above all read my husband’s food critics. It’s definitely worth a read.

Hurrah!!, This is my achievement:

My foodie husband has his eyes and mouth wide open the moment he opens the refrigerator and he has 3 of them in just one go. He skips his dinner. I should say, he transforms into a very pleasantly different mood. I guess its chocolate induced, but he says it ts the way this Dark Chocolate Mousse is made, the way it is presented, and the deliciousness of this dessert. He’s put in a request for a repeat. This guy is a serious “IT Techie” (but loves partying, camping, and is into many sports). Considers himself a thorough food critic and he’s given his verdict about this Mousse.

Before the verdict, he changes again into a quick Suit, with a perfect Tie, and imitates a Michelin star MasterChef cum food critic in his comments, body language, and posture. They way they comment on the dishes served to them. I hold my laughter and is waiting for what’s coming next. Therefore as a result and knowing his sense of humor, and his wit, he sums it as his perfect verdict.

His Verdict:

  1. Firstly, the texture of the Mousse is perfectly soft, the spoon reached the bottom without any effort.
  2. Secondly,  the Mousse does not feel like a dessert that is somewhere between a first-attempt Chocolate Mousse and an ice-cream, it really IS A MOUSSE indeed. (I say to myself, “Hold it, baby! don’t burst into laughter on his face”).
  3. Thirdly, It’s luscious, not just delicious. (I can see the change in his mood, the chocolate played its part !!. You know what I mean.)
  4. And he still goes on saying, I taste the perfect bitterness of the dark chocolate. Someone said, The Bitter, The Better. It’s perfectly dark and the bitterness cannot be any perfect than this. A tad bitter, and it will be bitterness re-invented. (Babes! I am gently pulling a few strands of my hair right now.  I don’t wanna laugh as he seems to be quite serious in his comments.)
  5. Finally, he finishes one of the Mousse, enters the kitchen, opens the refrigerator, and takes another one. He says he needs to have more to give out more comments, sorry compliments, with a giggle.  (I meekly tell him, you can enjoy the Mousse. Need I say more!!)

Recipe of Dark Chocolate Mousse

Ingredients:

  • 125 gm grated dark chocolate (Min 60% Cocoa)
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tsp gelatin
  • 1/2 cup Heavy Cream
  • ½ tsp vanilla essence (optional)

Method:

1. Firstly, Heat the milk and add the grated chocolate and stir till it melts.
2. Next, Stir in vanilla essence at this point (if you are using).

HOW TO MAKE MOUSSE WITH DARK CHOCOLATE
1. Initially, Let the chocolate mixture chill at room temperature.

2. Then, add 1 tbsp. water to set gelatin and heat it in a microwave or double bowl.
Strain and add the dissolved gelatin in it.

3. Now, add the whipped cream and blend it with a beater till it gets a smooth consistency.

4. Finally, Pour it into a glass and set in a refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
