Bhel Puri

Bhel Puri | Street Style Bhel puri, a popular street food, is a sweet, tangy, and mouth-watering evening snack recipe served mainly by street vendors in India. It is the most popular Indian Chaat food. This recipe of Bhel Puri is very easy with detailed step-by-step photos and descriptions. One can easily prepare this at home and it’s also an ideal dish for those following a Vegan diet.

To start with, this is a popular street food mainly made with puffed rice, potatoes, onions, tomatoes, and an amalgamation of sweet and spicy chutneys. Moreover, Bhel Puri is served with sev, papdis also know as puris, and garnished with coriander, pomegranates, and also peanuts.

Step-by-Step Recipe of Bhel Puri

Ingredients:

2 cups Puffed Rice or Kurmura or Mamra
1 Big potato, boiled, peeled and cut into cubes
1/2 cup finely chopped onions
1/2 cup finely chopped tomatoes
2 tbsp Khajur ki chutney or dates-tamarind chutney
2 tsp Green Coriander chutney
1 tsp Garlic chutney
1/2 tsp chaat masala
1 tsp fresh lemon juice
1/2 cup finely chopped coriander leaves
a handful of pomegranate seeds to garnish
1/2 cup of Sev
6-8 puris
Salt as per taste

Method:

1. Firstly, take a kadai, add little oil, and roast puffed rice or mamra for 4-5 minutes till they are crisp.  You can add a pinch of turmeric if you want. Keep it aside and let it cool. Meanwhile, do the preparations for the Bhel Puri.

2. Secondly, add diced potatoes, finely chopped onions, and tomatoes into the puffed rice and mix it well with the help of a spoon.

3. Thirdly, add the green, garlic, and khajur ki chutney to the bowl of puffed rice and vegetables.

4. Mix all the ingredients well with your hands so that all the chutneys are distributed evenly and at this point, puffed rice will become soggy.

5. Finally, add sev, puri or papdi, chaat masala, lemon juice, give it a quick stir and garnish it with finely chopped coriander leaves and pomegranate.
