On our recent visit to Lucknow, we visited Legendary Tunday Kababi in Aminabad to try their famous kababs. Lucknow City, capital of Uttar Pradesh In India is known for its rich culture and heritage. This city is a perfect balance of old charm along with modern vibes. Being very well known for its Awadhi cuisine back from the Nawabs of olden times, Lucknow is very famous for its delicious food.
Tunday Kababi one of the humble eateries in Lucknow, is very famous for its juicy and succulent Kebabs and Biryani. This place is famous all across the country for its Tunday buffalo and mutton kebabs. Apparently, this is a happy place for all meat lovers. However, they also have good and delicious options for vegetarians alike.
Tunday Kababi at Aminabad
This outlet of Tunday Kababi at Aminabad stands in the middle of the lanes where you will find many different stalls selling biryanis and kababs. However, Tunday Kababs becomes the highlight of the street. The whole street was crowded with people walking around and hand-rickshaws passing by. The moment you spot this outlet, you can smell the aromas wafted from the open kitchen. You just can not miss seeing kababs, biryanis, and Rotis being cooked in the open-air kitchen. The whole sight already created a sense of hunger and without even wasting a minute, we headed to the restaurant.
The ambiance here was very basic and minimalistic with steel chairs and wooden tables. There is a separate section for families and kids, since we were 2 females, they guided us to the family section. However, the place is just basic in terms of ambiance. Their staff guys are very quick and prompt with their service. The decor highlighted the pictures of Bollywood celebrities who visited this place. Seeing so many pictures of famous stars, I can surely say that this is a very famous place for kababs.
Food we ordered
We visited this place twice as we really relished the food here. My friend being a non-vegetarian and I being a vegetarian, we decided to go for our individual preferences.
So on our first visit, we had ordered
Vegetarian Kababs,
Mutton Kababs and
2 Roomali Rotis
They serve a complimentary onion salad and a green chutney along with the kababs.
Both the kebabs were succulent, juicy, and tender that it just melted in our mouth. Kababs were full of flavors, and they say they use more than 100 spices to prepare these kababs. Roomali Rotis, a thing Indian flatbread is usually eaten with these kebabs and they pair just perfectly.
We paid Rs 180/- for this meal.

However, on our second visit, we decide to try something other than the kababs. So we had ordered
Veg Biryani,
Curd Raita
Mutton Korma
Roomali Roti
Muton Gravy and
Sheermal ( An Aromatic Flatbread made with a saffron coating that was originally from Iran, but the Mughals tweaked a bit with Indian Tastebuds)
Coming to the Veg Biryani, each grain of the rice was flavourful and tasted delicious. However, the Biryani served in Lucknow is dry and they do not serve it with any kind of gravy or Salan. So you need to order a Raita or a gravy along with the Biryani. I had ordered veg raita but was disappointed to see that they served me a small bowl of spiced buttermilk. This was my only disappointment here.
My friend who had ordered for Mutton Korma and Sheermal really relished both the dishes. She especially really enjoyed having mutton korma and the gravy was extremely flavourful and lip-smacking. She also had this mutton gravy along with veg biryani and it paired so well and tasted very good.
Overall, the taste was really delicious and I would surely say Tunday Kababi is a food lover’s paradise. A must visit place when you are in Lucknow.
We paid Rs 350/- for this meal.

Tunday Kababi is very pocket friendly and one can relish these kababs at very nominal rates. Overall, it was an absolute gastronomic experience here. I will surely recommend this for all the food and kebab lovers. The memories are sure to bring a smile to my face whenever I will think about this place.
