Custard Apple or Sitaphal Rabri

Custard Apple or Sitaphal Rabri is a thick, creamy, and delicious dessert. It is a traditional Indian dessert made with fresh custard apples. Since custard apples are sweet they impart a natural sweetness to this Rabri. So you can adjust the sugar accordingly. It is very easy to prepare and it yummy in taste.

Benefits of Custard Apple

Custard apple is a storehouse of Vitamin C, which is an anti-oxidant and helps in neutralizing free radicals. Vitamin A present in the fruit is good for hair, eyes, and healthy skin. Custard apple contains magnesium, which plays a vital role in relaxing muscles and protecting the heart against diseases.

Recipe of Custard Apple or Sitaphal Rabri

Ingredients:

1 liter high-fat Milk
125 grams Sugar
2 medium firm and ripened Custard apples (Sitaphal)
A handful of Almond and Pistachio shavings

Method:

1. Boil milk in a heavy bottom pan on a slow flame.

2. After it starts boiling simmer it for 10 minutes and stir occasionally while boiling.

3. Add sugar and stir till sugar dissolves.

4. Boil for another 5-8 minutes till the milk has thickened and almost reduced to half of the quantity and your Rabri is cooked.

5. Now let the Rabri chill at room temperature.

6. Meanwhile, remove seeds from custard apple, grind to make a thick pulp.

7. Add the pulp into the Rabri once the milk cools and mix it well.

8. Refrigerate the custard apple Rabri for 2-3 hours and serve it chilled.

9. Garnish with dry fruits like Almond and Pistachios Shavings.
